    schwann cells serve as the myelinating cell of the PNS and support cells of peripheral neurons . A schwann cell forms a myelin sheath bt wrapping it’s plasma membrane concentrically around the inner axon .

    STRUCTURE

    schwann cells are variety of glial cells that keep peripheral neuron fibres ( both myelinating and unmyelinating ) alive .In myelinated axons , schwann cells form the myelin sheath . The sheath is not continuous

    FUNCTION

    one of the most important function of the schwann cells is to myelinate the axons of the PNS . myelin whuch is a fatty layer thst insulates the axon , helps to increase the saltatory condunction of neuron . A myelinating schwann cells wraps around a single axon.
