    do cross multiplication

    (x + 2) * 3x = (x + 1) * 5x

    3x^2 + 6x = 5x^2 + 5x

    6x – 5x = 5x^2 – 3x^2

    x = 2x^2

    x/x^2 = 2

    1/x = 2

    1 = 2x

    1/2 = x
