    Maybe I’m missing something, but from how I understand this question 4.5 is the only possible answer.

    – 4.5 doubles to 9
    – subtract 1 from 9 to get 8
    – square 8 for the result of 64

    (This is just my logic, but maybe my thought process can help you!)
