Explanation:
Slope intercept form: y = mx + c where m is the gradient/slope (how steep the line is) and c is the y intercept ( the point where the line crosses the y axis)
It states parallel, so you know that the gradient has to be the same (they need to be “steep” at the same rate to be parallel)
Substitute the numbers in:
y = mx + c
-5 = 2(4) + c
-5 = 8 + c
c = -8-5
c = -13
With this, rewrite the equation:
y = 2x – 13
