    C + 2H2 = CH4

    Given 30.2g of H2

    Find the Moles

    Mole =Mass/Molar Mass

    Molar Mass of H2 = 1×2 = 2g/mol

    Mole = 30.2/2

    = 15.1moles of Hydrogen gas.

    Now from the balanced equation of Reaction above…

    1mole of Carbon reacts completely with 2moles of Hydrogen gas.

    “x” moles of carbon with react with 15.1moles of Hydrogen

    x = 15.1/2

    =7.55moles of carbon.

    We now have moles of carbon.

    To find mass

    Mole =Mass/Molar Mass

    Mass = Mole x Molar Mass

    Molar mass of carbon = 12g/mol

    Mass = 7.55 x 12

    Mass = 90.6g of carbon is needed.
