   because the 5 is negative we have -5 + -5=0 because negatives only go up by subtracting so 0+-5 is 5.

   because the 1 is positive we can do 1+1 as were doing 2×1 so 1+1=2.

   because we are doing 0.25×7 we need to know that we can flip the problem so we get 7×0.25. this makes things easy for you and me, we already know that 4 0.25’s make 1 and we also know that 0.25+0.25 is 0.50 and 1 + 0.50 is 1.50 or just 1.5
