In the course of the game they piled up a lot of running yards, divided among four players:
• The bruising fullback, Vernon Variable, accounted for a chuck of those yards.
• The star halfback, Reggie Root, ran for 15 less than three times as many yards as Vernon did.
• The speedy wide-out, Larry Linear, only ran once but he picked up 11 more yards than Vernon’s total on that
play, a fancy reverse that went for a touchdown.
• The crafty quarterback, Quentin Quadratic, ran for a total of 18 yards on a variety of scrambles.
If the WACO Hawks ran for 229 yards, how many yards did each of the four players gain? Remember to define a
