Question

Find the length of yz if y is between x and z
xy= 11d, yz= 9d-2, xz= 5d+28

2) isaac draws mn=5cm then he draws a point p between m and n so the p is 1/4 of the distance from m to n

Answers

  1. The length of yz if y is between x and z is 16.

    What is line segment?

    A line segment contains two fixed-length endpoints A and B. This line segment’s length refers to the distance among its endpoints A & B.
    The line segment is thus a component or part of the a line with two endpoints. A line segment, unlike a line, has a fixed length.
    A line segment’s length can be measured in metric units like millimetres and centimetres, or in customary measures such as feet or inches.
    Now, according to the question;
    The equation of the line is given as;
    xy= 11d, yz= 9d-2, xz= 5d+28
    As, point y lies in between x and z.
    Thus, the line has a total distance of xz which comprises of xy and yz.
    Thus,
    xz = xy + yz
    substituting the given values in this;
    5d + 28 = 11d + 9d – 2
    Solving the equation;
    5d + 28 = 20d -2
    15d = 30
    d = 2
    Put d =2 in yz equation.
    yz  = 9d – 2
    yz = 9×2 – 2
    yz  = 16.
    Therefore, the value of the length of line segment yz is 16.
