During a baseball season, Team A scores 9 runs for every 7 runs that Team B scores. The total number of runs scored by both teams is 1440. How many runs does each team score?

(please try and explain how to do it because I’m not smart enough to immediately understand lol)

  1. Answer:
Each team ran (scored) 90 runs.
    Step-by-step explanation:
Don’t really know how to explain it but I’ll show what I did.
First I understood that for every 9 runs team A runs, team B runs 7.
This means that if we multiply 9 by a number, we have to multiply 7 by the same number.
Now that we understand this, we need to figure out a number that when multiplied with 7 and 9 then added together equals 1440.
I’m pretty sure there was an easier way to do this but I did it the way I know will for sure give me the right answer and that’s estimating that mystery number until you get it. Sorry my explanation wasn’t the best.
    Work:
    9 x 90 = 810
    7 x 90 = 630
    810 + 630 = 1440

  2. The number of runs scored by Team A is 810 runs
The number of runs cored by Team B is 630 runs
    What is an Equation?
Equations are mathematical statements with two algebraic expressions flanking the equals (=) sign on either side.
It demonstrates the equality of the relationship between the expressions printed on the left and right sides.
Coefficients, variables, operators, constants, terms, expressions, and the equal to sign are some of the components of an equation. The “=” sign and terms on both sides must always be present when writing an equation.
    Given data ,
Let the number of runs scored be = x
Now , For every 9 runs scored by A , Team B scores 7 runs
So , the equation will be
Total number of runs scored by Team A = 9x
Total number of runs scored by Team B = 7x
And , Total runs scored by both Team A and Team B is = 1440 runs
So , the equation will be
    9x + 7x = 1440
    16x = 1440
Divide by 16 on both sides of the equation , we get
    x = 90
Therefore , the total runs scored by Team A = 9x
    Total runs scored by Team A = 9 x 90
Total runs scored by Team A = 810 runs
And , Total runs scored by Team B = 7x
    Total runs scored by Team B = 7 x 90
Total runs scored by Team B = 630 runs
    Hence ,
The number of runs scored by Team A is 810 runs
The number of runs cored by Team B is 630 runs
