   X = 3 ( Y – (X – Y) )

   X = 3 ( Y – X + Y )

   X = 3 ( 2Y – X )

   X = 6Y – 3X

   4X = 6Y

   2X = 3Y

   Put value of X from equation ( ii ) in equation ( i ):

   3Y/ 2 + Y = 35

   5Y = 70

   Y = 14 years

   Put value of Y in equation ( ii )

   X = ( 3 x 14 ) / 2

   X = 21 years

   Hence, The present age of Chaudhary is 21 years and Mrs Pandey is 14 years.
