2) Thomas wants to find the difference
1/2 (6x – 2) – (2x + 1)
He does the following:
1/2 (6x – 2) – (2x + 1)
3x – 1 – x + 1/2 =
3x + x – 1 + 1/2 =
4x – 1/2
Is this correct? If not, show the correct procedure and explain where Thomas made his mistake.
He is not correct, his mistake was multiplying 1/2 to 2x and 1, when you should have multiplied the negative to them.
