Question

19. A pet shop owner bought 320 leashes. 30% of these leashes were pink leashes and the rest were blue and green leashes. The number of blue leashes is 3 times the number of green leashes. How many blue leashes did she buy?

1. The number of the blue leashes will be 240.

### What are linear equations?

It is defined as the relation between two variables, if we plot the graph of the linear equation we will get a straight line.
It is given that:-
• A pet shop owner bought 320 leashes. 30% of these leashes were pink leashes and the rest were blue and green leashes.
• The number of blue leashes is 3 times the number of green leashes.
The number of the blue leashes will be calculated as:-
L     =    320
B   +    P   +   g   =   320
{ (320  x   0.3 ) } + 0.7 ( B  +  g ) =  320
( 96 )  +   ( 2.8g )   =   320
2.8g   =   320 / 96
g   =   222  /  2.8  =  80
Now  B  =   3  x  g
B   =   3   x   80
B   =   240
Therefore the number of the blue leashes will be 240.
